We are thrilled to announce the appointment of our new Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach! With a rich background in both playing and coaching, he brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our program.
Growing up in New Lenox, IL, he was a dedicated basketball and soccer player for 11 years. It wasn’t until 8th grade that he was introduced to volleyball by his PE teacher, who also served as the coach. Despite the sport’s limited popularity among boys in Chicago at the time, he quickly discovered his passion for volleyball. This newfound love led him to prioritize volleyball above all other sports, focusing his energy on both school and club teams.
Upon moving to San Diego, he was impressed by the vibrant volleyball scene, encompassing not only indoor but also beach and grass volleyball. After a brief hiatus to concentrate on his studies, he resumed playing and coaching across San Diego. His career began as a math teacher at Pacific Trails Middle School, where he was inspired by the dedication and competitiveness of young athletes. This experience rekindled his passion for volleyball and led him to pursue coaching opportunities.
He has since been actively involved with coaching through CCA, where he has served as both the Girls JV Assistant Coach and the Boys JV Head Coach. Additionally, he has led after-school volleyball clinics at PTMS. His coaching philosophy emphasizes creating an energized and enjoyable team environment, focusing on player accountability and team collaboration. He believes that the lessons learned through sports extend far beyond the court, shaping the character and work ethic of young athletes.
